Your Wedding Day

Your Wedding Day

The Location
There are many unique places throughout Butterfly Hollow for your wedding ceremony. If you have chosen an elopement package that includes lodging you’ll be able to choose a location that calls to the both of you. All other ceremonies are held at the hillside cedar gazebo. It sits among flowers on the edge of the woods overlooking the hollow and is one of the most beautiful spots for a wedding celebration. The gazebo also has several log and wooden benches around it for your guests. If the weather is unfavorable, the open barn is available as well as the farmhouse wraparound porch.

Decorations
Decorations in good taste, which do not clash with the Inn or grounds are welcome, providing they do not damage the buildings, facilities or grounds. Decorations need to be designed so they can be fastened and displayed without nails or other items which damage benches, the barn, or gazebo. Much of the beauty of Butterfly Hollow is in its simplicity. Beyond flowers, we believe a minimum of decoration is needed. Butterfly Hollow staff must approve all decorating plans in advance of the event. No nails, thumbtacks or tape of any kind are to be used anywhere as they may damage surfaces. All decorations must be taken down and removed from Butterfly Hollow at the end of your event. Any decorations left behind will incur a $100 fee for removal and dumping fees at the local county waste facility.

Photography
The pictures of your wedding day are what will last forever. We take extreme pride in capturing the emotion, love and passion that will radiate around you on this special day. If your package includes photography (Elope at the Hollow) we will  take pictures after your ceremony, candid moments as well as a few posed bridal pictures. Your guests are welcome to bring along cameras or a video camera to capture your day.

Formal or Informal
This is your day and should be a celebration that encompasses all your wedding dreams as well as symbolizes you as individuals and your love for each other. There are no standards that should be followed. If you have always imagined that long white dress and your man in a tux…. Be formal. It makes beautiful pictures. If you want to be more relaxed, be yourself and dress to be comfortable. The ceremony can also reflect your wishes and can include formal traditions like having a unity candle, sand ceremony, or less traditional elements like reading a poem to each other, having a song sung, or using the Apache wedding blessing.

Music
In addition to the lovely sounds of nature that are a part of all weddings at Butterfly Hollow, you are welcome to bring along a playlist with any special song(s) to play as you walk to the wedding site, or perhaps to dance to. We also have a large selection of instrumental music that can be softly playing. If you have chosen the Intimate Hollow Wedding or Celebration package and want to make your celebration feel truly magical, there are several professional musicians from the Nashville area that we would recommend for that special touch.

The Officiant
Most of the weddings in the hollow are officiated by Dave, who is also one of the owners of Butterfly Hollow. You are welcome to have your own minister or other officiant come and perform the ceremony. They would not count towards your package’s guest limit unless he/she is staying for your reception. The ceremonies that Dave performs are legal and binding. He is ordained as a non-denominational officiant and loves creating ceremonies that are heart felt and entertaining and as much about the two of you as he can learn.

What happens if it rains or is too cold
You can still have a beautiful, intimate and cozy ceremony on the covered wrap around porch of the farmhouse or inside beside the field-stone fireplace (elopement package only). Usually if there is a 40% or higher chance of rain, we will setup and decorate the farmhouse or porch for the ceremony, cake and toast.
