Butterfly Hollow is located in northern middle Tennessee, only forty five minutes East of Nashville. It is where the Nashville Basin begins to roll and forms the foothills to the Cumberland Plateau.

Butterfly Hollow is centrally located between beautiful lakes, pristine rivers, some of the area’s best State Parks and within a ten minutes drive to the historic towns of Carthage and Gordonsville.

From Nashville
From Nashville, follow I-40 East to Exit 254. Turn right at the top of the exit ramp towards Alexandria. Drive 100 ft and turn left onto Colonel Bernie S Bass Hwy (Highway 141/53 North). You’ll drive a short mile through the unincorporated community of New Middleton and take the first road on your left, which is Mulherrin Road. Look for the white fence around a red brick home. If you cross the Woodrow Wilson Winfree Bridge or the New Middleton Elementary School, you’ve passed the road. Drive 1 3/4 miles on Mulherrin Road back under the interstate and through some beautiful farm country. You’ll make your way up a small hill and around a sharp “blind” curve, cross a small bridge and a few feet later turn right on to Dyers Branch Road. Look for the red barn with two small steel silos on the corner. Drive exactly 2 miles and turn right onto Bussell Lane. There is a wooden butterfly hanging on a post next to the road sign and a white house with black shutters on the corner when you turn. You’ll drive through our neighbor’s farm, probably will be escorted by a friendly dog part of the way. You’ll pass an aging barn or two. As you wind your way into the hollow the road will narrow a little more, the forest will slowly engulf you as you make your way to our gate and Butterfly Hollow sign.

From Knoxville
From Knoxville, follow I-40 West to Exit 254. Turn left at the top of the exit ramp heading towards Alexandria. Pick up directions from above.

From Murfreesboro

From Carthage
From Carthage, TN and surrounding areas, take US-70N West to Hogan’s Creek Rd in South Carthage and turn left at the Marathon gas station. The Cumberland River will be on your right and you can only turn left. Continue on Hogan’s Creek Road for approximately 6 miles and enjoy the countryside as you twist your way to Butterfly Hollow. You will come upon a white house on the left side of the road and notice a wooden butterfly hanging on a post. Turn left onto Bussell Lane and drive through our neighbor’s farm.
